First State Bank has adopted the following Privacy Policy.  It is designed to protect the information that you have entrusted with us. At First State Bank, we put our customers first and take pride in offering our customers financial services that meet their individual needs.  We appreciate the trust our customers have in First State Bank, and place the highest priority on our customers’ privacy.  As a First State Bank customer, you can count on responsible treatment of any personal information you share with us. We recognize and respect our responsibility to protect you, our customer, from unauthorized use of your private information.

First State Bank Employees

We believe the confidentiality and protection of customer information is one of our fundamental responsibilities.  Therefore, all employees of First State Bank are governed by a strict code of conduct, which includes the importance of our customers’ rights and expectations of privacy.  Information is shared strictly on a “need to know” basis, and only with those who have a legal right to that information.  Our employees are educated as to the importance of this issue, and stern disciplinary measures are used to enforce it.

Collection of Information

Information used by First State Bank is:

• Collected from customers, 
• Developed within the bank, and
• Is occasionally obtained from outside sources

We will limit the use and collection of information about our customers to that which is necessary to administer our business, to help us offer superior service, and to inform our customers of additional products and services which may be of interest.

Information to Third Parties

When we conduct business with third parties, we require them to maintain similar standards of conduct regarding the privacy of personally identifiable customer information provided to them. We will not disclose information to third parties concerning your account with us, except:

• When such disclosure is necessary to complete the transactions;
• To verify the existence and condition of your account for a third party
  (such as credit bureau) as is permitted by law;
• To comply with court order or applicable laws or regulations; or
• When you give us your written permission.

Information About Former Customers

We have the same policy about disclosing information about former customers as we do about current customers.

Links and Internet Privacy

Occasionally, we will link our website to other Internet sites as a convenience to you, our customer.  First State Bank will only link to sites that uphold our corporate standards.  However, we are not responsible for the content of those sites, nor their policies for the collection of customer information.

When you visit our website to view any pages, read product information, or use our online calculators and tools, you do so without telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information.  While we do not collect identifying information about visitors to our site, we do use standard software to collect information for the strict purpose of tracking activity on our site.  This allows us to better understand how many people use our site and which pages and features are most popular.  The only information we normally collect and store is:

• The name of your Internet Service Provider,
• The website that referred you to us (if any),
• The date and time the pages were accessed, and
• The page or pages you requested.

There are instances where you may elect to provide us with personal information.  If you fill out one of our feedback or request forms or send us e-mail, you are transmitting the information that appears to you in the form or the message.  This will typically include information like your name, mailing address, e-mail address, the kind of request you are making, and any other information necessary to fulfill your request.  You never transfer personally identifying information that you do not enter yourself.  This is always your option; this information cannot be collected unless you specifically elect to send it to us.  This information is used internally only for the purpose of fulfilling the request or for contacting you directly and is not given or sold to any other organization.

When you submit personally identifying information via one of our feedback or application forms, that information is also encrypted, or scrambled, by your browser before it is transmitted back to our website.  This effectively prevents anyone from intercepting and reading any personal information about you.  Note that this encryption does not take place if you send us e-mail, but only when you use your web browser with one of our site’s forms.

Access to Your Account Information

Access to your account information using Internet home banking is protected using Customer ID and Password.

Privacy of Children

First State Bank respects the privacy of children.  We do not knowingly collect names, e-mail addresses, or any other personally identifiable information from children.  We do not knowingly market to children nor do we knowingly allow children to utilize the portal. Customer Recourse
